The new peripherals combine retro-inspired aesthetics with modern mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse features, supporting Windows and Android devices.
Designed around a pixel-art woodland theme, the Forest Wonder collection brings a distinctive visual style to the desktop, with the keyboard and mouse offering programmable controls, wireless connectivity and dedicated features for gaming and everyday use.
Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard
The Retro 87 is an 87-key mechanical keyboard featuring 8BitDo Core Green Tactile Mechanical Switches, co-developed with Kailh. Its PCB is hot-swappable, allowing users to replace the switches without soldering, while dye-sublimation PBT keycaps provide a durable surface for long-term use. The keyboard also features an RGB backlight with eight lighting modes, alongside function shortcut keys and an Fn lock. Its MDA-like height and top-mount construction are designed to provide a familiar typing experience.
Independent Control Panel
An independent control panel provides dedicated controls for managing connections, volume and button mapping. The keyboard also integrates an XBOX button, which can be used to activate the Windows Game Bar with a single press.
Dual Super Buttons
The Retro 87 includes two large programmable Dual Super Buttons, which can be assigned to macros and custom functions. Users can also perform fast mapping directly on the Super Buttons without requiring software. The keyboard supports 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 for further customisation, while n-key rollover helps ensure that simultaneous key presses are registered correctly. A magnetic adapter compartment provides storage for the 2.4G wireless adapter when it is not in use.
Wireless Connectivity and Battery Life
The Retro 87 supports Bluetooth LE 5.3, 2.4G wireless and wired USB connectivity. Its integrated 4000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for up to 280 hours of use over 2.4G wireless or up to 300 hours over Bluetooth. Charging takes approximately four to eight hours. The keyboard measures 376.6 x 169.6 x 46.8mm and weighs 1100g, while the Dual Super Buttons measure 160.2 x 74.6 x 32.3mm and weigh 270g.
Retro R8 Mouse
The Retro R8 Mouse complements the keyboard with a three-mode connection system supporting Bluetooth LE 5.3, 2.4G wireless and wired USB. It is equipped with a PAW 3395 sensor and offers six DPI adjustment levels for users to configure tracking sensitivity.
The mouse weighs 77g and measures 115 x 58 x 39.4mm. A 450mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 100 hours of operation over Bluetooth, while 2.4G battery life ranges from 26 to 105 hours depending on the selected polling rate.
Multifunctional Charging Dock
The 8BitDo Retro R8’s charging dock serves more than simply keeping the mouse charged. It also acts as a signal extension for the 2.4G connection, helping maintain a robust wireless link, while providing an integrated compartment for storing the wireless adapter. The dock measures 115.17 x 58 x 45.88mm and weighs 192g. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours.
Customisable Controls
Four programmable side buttons provide additional control options and can be configured according to the user’s preferences. The R8 also supports left- and right-hand mode switching, making it suitable for different grip and usage preferences. HUANO micro switches are rated for up to 100 million clicks. Further customisation, including button mapping and polling-rate adjustment, is available through 8BitDo Ultimate Software on PC.
