The Logitech G935 Wireless 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset is the new release which sits atop of Logitech’s G Series product line up.
The design philosophy that Logitech has used here is if it’s not broke, don’t fix it with the Logitech G935 taking many visual design cues from the G933.
The G935 does feature upgraded 50mm Pro G drivers which are constructed with a woven hybrid mesh, with Logitech claiming that this helps unlock greater sonic detail, depth & clarity at any volume. The headset is compatible with Logitechs G Hub software suite which enables you to personalise the lighting, program the “G-Keys” with macros & In-game commands and you can also customise audio preferences and save unique profiles for different games & apps.
Another call out feature here is that the headset can be used even if the 12 hour battery life has been expended by means of a 3.5mm connector, with this connector the headset is also compatible with all major consoles as well as mobile devices.
The G935 also features leatherette earcups and a padded headband to help aid comfort levels during long gaming sessions, one issue we had with the entry level G432 headphones was that the padding on the headband was minimal and was uncomfortable, it looks as if Logitech have added more here. In our review we’ll be looking at this to make sure that the added weight of the batteries and LEDs are offset by the additional padding or will it be even more uncomfortable? Read on to find out.

Packaging & First Look
As always we start with the front of the box and it’s standard fare for Logitech with their logo in the bottom left and the model number scribed sideways along with a shot of the headset from the rear.
The back of the box goes into more detail about the unique selling points on the Logitech G935
The only side with any information on is the left hand side which features the technical specifications of the headset.
Inside the box we get a quick start guide, a warranty information booklet along with the headset & a micro USB charging cable and a 3.5mm adapter that is necessary to use the headphones on consoles which can’t connect via the USB dongle which is seemingly missing at this point.
Closer Look
More on the USB dongle soon, Looking at the headset from the front and we get our first look at the tucked away microphone, this can be folded away when not in use and when folded up it automatically mutes the microphone.
Removing the right cover on the outside of the ear cup reveals the battery, which can be disconnected if you need to replace it.
Removing the cover on the left ear cup reveals the USB dongle necessary for wireless connectivity, it is also worth noting that the covers are magnetic so you don’t have to worry about any fragile plastic tabs here!
Rotating the ear cup outwards allows us to get a better look at what you’re going to be putting over your ears, Logitech have gone with leatherette covered padding and seem to have added slightly more foam on the headband over the Logitech G432.
The top of the headband is fairly inconspicuous featuring the Logitech G logo, however it does appear quite thin.
Closer Look (Continued)
Taking a little bit of a closer look at the Logitech G935’s features reveals that the left ear cup has a sliding power switch, along with 3 programmable macro keys, a mute button and a volume wheel.
In this picture we get a better idea of how thick these earcups are ensuring that even those with the largest ears should be comfy with these. We also get to see the RGB zones on the headset.
On the bottom of the left ear cup is where the 3.5mm connector and USB Charging port can be found.
Last not but not least we’re taking a look at the microphone, as mentioned previously when not in use it can be tucked into the headset.
Software & Performance Testing
Design & Build Quality
As we mentioned in the introduction there has not been much deviation from the formula that Logitech have used previously. The headset is large and fairly heavy, weighing in at 379g. The foam on the headband does help combat this weight somewhat but as with the G432 we found that more foam is needed.
The inclusion of programmable buttons on a headset left us stumped as to what use case they would be actually usable in and we struggled to come up with any where you would prefer to use the headset buttons rather than assign the macro or command to a key that’s easily within reach.
Audio Quality
Out of the box the audio quality will be suitable for most gamers, however we did need to tweak the 10-Band EQ to get the sound to a place where we were truly happy with it. The isolation could use some work as the odd shaped ear cups means that it fails to make a perfect seal. As with most if not all headsets that have software available on PC this headset performs best on that platform.
Software & Microphone Test
In our tests we found that the microphone was usable, however it would greatly benefit from having a longer extendible boom arm, we found that we could not get the microphone positioned how we usually would.
Logitech’s G hub software is feature rich and easy to navigate and use, the inclusion of a 10 band EQ is great, and we would like to see this feature on more headsets! A video demonstrating the microphone quality and software is available below.
Conclusion
The question we sought to answer with our review is how the G935 stacks up against it’s predecessor, and it looks like it improves in key areas however some pain points are still present.To get decent audio quality out of the box for music listening from a gaming headset is rare, and we’re glad to see that Logitech has managed to achieve that with the G935.
However the improved audio quality doesn’t mean that we can overlook the negatives, we found that the headset was uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time due to the insufficient amount of foam on the headset, we also think this could be combatted by widening the headband slightly to ensure the weight is distributed better across your head.
In terms of design we’ve included this in both there are pros and cons, the headset certainly ticks the right boxes for most gamers, it has good sound reproduction and definitely looks the part but Logitech have dialed it back and it doesn’t look too much like the G933s. However the headset is still very bulky and is not suitable for use outside of the house.
The battery life lasts a paltry 10 hours (On average) whereas other headsets are available with battery life of up to 16 hours. This is affected by the inclusion of RGB, and we do not see the point of having RGB on your headphones when you can’t see it most of the time. The other feature that was an oddity was the inclusion of the reprogrammable buttons, we struggled to find a use case for these.
It’s our opinion that the features included with the G935’s don’t justify it’s price tag
