FSP, a world-renowned PSU manufacturer with years of experience in the field, has sent us one of their latest 80PLUS Gold-certified and Cybenetics Gold-certified power supply units – the VITA GM 1000W. The VITA GM 1000W is the highest wattage variant of this series and is available in black and white colours to fit most PC build colour themes. The VITA GM is also compliant with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. It features native 12v-2×6 connectors for the latest generation NVIDIA RTX graphics cards, apart from the 650W variant.
FSP has recently revamped their line-up with new ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliant models. Announced back in April 2024 with availability in stores at Q4 2024, the FSP VITA GM series is perfect for PC builders looking into building a gaming PC powered by the latest NVIDIA RTX graphics cards. Before we delve deeper into the VITA GM 100W PSU, let’s discuss FSP’ current line-up of PSUs. One might find it confusing checking out FSP’s website with its relatively wide list of active products, which is kind of the thing with PSU manufacturers these days as they shift towards ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliant models.
FSP’s Current Line-up
FSP has a new line of PSUs, moving away from its HYDRO naming scheme. The new PSUS feature ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, and they are the VITA, ADVAN, and MEGA series power supply units.
The VITA series is dubbed “Dependable Choice” which is the streamlined units. Then there’s the ADVAN series, which is dubbed “Refined Power”, which would be the enthusiast-class products. Lastly, the MEGA series is designed for hardcore enthusiasts and power users, comprising 1350W and 1650W models.
The VITA GM sits on top of the other VITA models, having fully modular cabling. The VITA GD shares similar features with the VITA GM with the exception of having non-modular cables, and the VITA BD is the least having non-modular cables and Bronze-level certifications. The ADVAN GM, relatively new to the markets, appear to be slightly superior with its premium individually-sleeved cables and ECO fan mode options. Nevertheless, the VITA GM offers a good package of features for its price.

Packaging, Bundle, and Cables
The FSP VITA GM 1000W PSU comes in a black-coloured box – very minimal text is found at the front, and only the vital information about key features, certifications, and standards.
On one of the corners of the box, you can find a QR code that links you to the user manual of the PSU online.
On the other side of the box is a list of the included cables. Hence, buyers can vet the PSU and its contents even before purchasing – helpful for DIY PC builders.
FSP packed the PSU with very minimal plastic – only the PSU comes in a plastic bag. FSP even chose to use recycled cardboard to secure the PSU in place, not polystyrene foam, which is also plastic. But there is a pad of foam on top to add protection. The PSU comes with a manual and warranty info page. There’s a QR on the box that links to a digital copy of the manual.
The FSP VITA GM comes with modular flat black cables similar to the Super Flower LEADEX III GOLD ATX 3.1, stiffer than the cables from the GAMEMAX GX-850 PRO, which suggests FSP uses thicker copper cables. FSP’s ADVAN GM would be a step above having individually sleeved cables.
The VITA GM 1000W comes with two FSP-labelled Velcro ties, along with the two that secured the two sets of cables, you get a total of four that you can use in your PC build. The PSU also comes with four screws and a tester jumper allowing builders to test the PSU before installation.

The FSP VITA GM 1000W uses two separate 8-pin (4+4Pin) EPS connectors to plug into two 8-pin ATX EPS headers in a motherboard, not daisy-chained, which is a safer design wherein the load is divided into two cables. Hence, the FSP VITA GM 1000W is truly designed for high-end configurations.
Closer Look (External)
The FSP VITA GM 1000W has a very compact form factor for a 1000W PSU at 140mm in length. It sports an aesthetic hexagonal intake vent – a shape that seems to be a favourite of the brand since the AURUM Series PSUs from more than a decade ago to the recent HEXA Series.
On the visible side of the PSU, visible for bottom-mounted cases, there’s a production date sticker and a small warranty void sticker. The production date sticker is a bit of an eyesore, particularly if you use a chassis with a tempered glass side panel. On the plus side, it would tell you how long the PSU has been in use and serve as a reminder.
We asked FSP about the production sticker and said it should not be removed. A screw is also hidden under the production sticker.
The top side has the essential info, such as the maximum output current per rail, certifications, warnings, and customer support info.
The rear of the PSU is straightforward – power cable socket and power button. The FSP slogan “Power Never Ends” is also printed on the rear.
The FSP VITA GM 1000W features native 12V-2×6 connectors. FSP uses a unique connector for its peripherals, similar to what the be quiet! Dark Power Pro Series uses. Still, interchanging cables with different branded PSU is not recommended.
Closer Look (Internal)
The FSP VITA GM 1000W uses a 120mm cooling fan, which allows it to be extremely compact for a 1000W PSU. The PSU is also equipped with heatsinks to help with heat dissipation.
The VITA GM comes equipped with a Yate Loon D12SH-12 DC fan rated up to 2200 RPM, producing a max airflow of 88 CFM and noise up to 40 db. The 120mm cooling fan appears to be removable, connected via a 2-pin header.
The VITA GM 1000W is equipped with a single Nippon Chemi-Con KHS Series 450v 680uF 105°C aluminium electrolytic capacitor. Nippon Chemi-Con is one of the leading brands of Japanese capacitors known for reliability and quality.
The VITA GM 1000W also uses Nippon Chemi-Con secondary capacitors. Indeed, FSP choose high-quality Japanese capacitors for this power supply unit.
Testing Methodologies & Results
Our testing methodology for PSUs is straightforward, using a multi-meter and high-precision wattmeter and power analyser that I installed on the +12V, +5+, and +3.3V output rails. I used a high-precision wattmeter and power analyser on two +12V cables – one on the +12V PCIe cable and one on the +12V peripherals cable. With this, I can compare if the +12V output for the PCIe cables and peripherals are the same, particularly when the system is loaded. We also have a wattage and power meter for the entire system to monitor the total wattage pulled by the computer. The test computer’s configuration is as follows below which is on an open-frame testbench.CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K

To load the system, I used a combination of the Unigine Heaven Extreme graphics benchmarking tool and the Intel XTU CPU stress testing tool. Both applications ran simultaneously for 10 minutes and delivered an entire system power load of 550~570 watts, which is approximately 50% load for the PSU.
The FSP VITA GM 1000W’s efficiency peaks at 50% load.
Aside from loading the GPU and CPU with the workload, I also used a Lamptron FC5V3 fan controller and a 33mm-thick HF DC Brushless 120mm (Model JLFS12E12BS6) 12V 3.0A, rated for up to 7000 RPM. This fan can draw 20 watts of power at full speed. This setup is to pull power from the +12V peripheral cable since the Lamptron fan controller is powered by a 4-pin Molex connector.
Results:
There are several components in a computer that use +12V, and I wanted to see if there’s a significant difference between them. For this review, I’ve added another probe on the EPS connector connected to the motherboard that supplies power to the CPU. With this, we have probes on three different +12V outputs. Typically, the +12V rail that supplies power to the CPU and GPU is more robust, ensuring a stable supply of power to these components. Nevertheless, we will also test what happens to the +12V peripheral power cable output when it is loaded by a somewhat powerful fan.
The test system was pulling around 550W. The FSP VITA GM 1000W is showing a very powerful +12V rail – still plenty of headroom to draw more power without the rail falling under +12V. The +12V peripheral cable, drawing 20W with the JLFS12E12BS6 7000 RPM fan running at 12V, dropped the voltage down to 12.010V. During the stress test, the +3.3V also dropped to +3.296V. Nevertheless, the system did not encounter any issues.
Voltage Regulation
ATX 3.1 standard requires the PSU’s PCIe and +12V voltage deviation to be within -7% ~ +5%. The FSP VITA GM 1000W, having voltage deviation close to 1%, clearly passes the ATX 3.1 standard. The VITA GM 1000W’s voltage deviation is very tight, which is what you would want from your power supply unit. The +12V feed on the peripherals cable is robust even with a 20-watt 7000 RPM fan installed on it. The VITA GM 1000W can support not just high-end CPUs and GPUs but also configurations with multiple fans, RGB lighting devices, and hard drives in mind.
Acoustics
At low loads, the sound meter reads 48 dBA placed 10 cm away from the PSU’s cooling fan. At 50% load, the sound meter read 55 dBA. However, consider that the CPU cooler was also spinning much faster and is producing a louder noise in the system. Overall, the PSU is the least of your worries when it comes to noise. Our test system is in an open test bench without any form of sound insulation. In a typical desktop chassis wherein the PSU bay would likely have a fan filter at the bottom, noise should be even lower.
Conclusion
The FSP VITA GM Series is the upper-tier model under the VITA Series sporting PCIe 5.1 and ATX 3.1 standards, a fully modular cable design, and 80 PLUS Gold and Cybenetics Gold certifications. With the many PSU options in the market today, let’s talk about why you should consider the FSP VITA GM Series over the others below.If you are building a new gaming PC with the latest NVIDIA RTX graphics cards, or even the latest Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards, you’d need 12V-2×6 connectors, which the FSP VITA GM offers. The 1000W model, in particular, is ideal for mid-tier to high-end configurations.
The FSP VITA GM 1000W is impressively compact, measuring just 140mm in length for a 1000W power supply unit. To put into perspective, most 1000W PSUs you could find today are 150mm in length or longer. This is helpful when building compact micro-ATX PC builds with tighter PSU bays. Nevertheless, the FSP VITA GM 1000W runs cool and quiet. Most importantly, the PSU features very tight voltage regulation, thanks to its high-quality components like the Nippon Chemi-Con primary and secondary capacitors.
The FSP VITA GM 1000W power supply units offer a compelling set of features for PC builders. It features the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards supporting the latest graphics cards. It’s also very compact, which is a huge plus whether you plan to build a compact PC or just want more space for better cable management. Furthermore, the VITA GM 1000W is available in black and white colours to match the two most common colour themes PC builders use nowadays.
