In the spotlight today is the GIGABYTE GAMING A16 GA6H Laptop which is equipped with the very latest Intel Core i7-13620H and the RTX 5070.

Product on Review: GIGABYTE GAMING A16
Manufacturer: GIGABYTE
Street Price: GBP £1300 | USD $1390 | AUD $2200

The GIGABYTE GAMING A16 (GA6H) arrives as a promising mid-to-high-tier gaming laptop aimed at delivering strong performance for both gamers and content creators. Equipped with an Intel Core i7-13620H, this 10-core, 16-thread processor is built on Intel’s hybrid architecture, balancing high-performance and efficiency cores to handle demanding workloads and multitasking. Combined with 16GB of DDR5 memory running at 5600MHz, the system promises fast response times and smooth multitasking—though the single-channel configuration may leave room for performance tuning during testing.

Graphics performance is handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB, part of NVIDIA’s latest Ada Lovelace lineup, which should bring significant improvements in ray tracing, DLSS 3, and overall efficiency compared to previous generations. This GPU places the A16 in an interesting performance bracket, appealing to gamers looking for a balance between power and thermal management in a portable form factor. We’ll be paying close attention to how well the cooling system handles sustained loads and whether the laptop maintains consistent performance under extended gaming sessions.

Storage is covered by a 1TB GIGABYTE AG450E1024-SI SSD, which promises fast boot times and quick access to large game files. With GIGABYTE’s growing reputation for integrating high-speed internal components, expectations are high for snappy system performance across the board. In our upcoming tests, we’ll evaluate how these components work together in real-world scenarios—examining everything from gaming benchmarks to thermal behaviour, power efficiency, and user experience. This review will reveal whether the GIGABYTE GAMING A16 truly lives up to its potential as a well-balanced gaming powerhouse.

GIGABYTE on the A16:
Here comes GIGABYTE GAMING A16, the gaming laptop opens up all possibilities. It’s equipped with the 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processor and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 50 Series Laptop GPU to deliver powerful gaming performance. The re-designed Golden Curve Keyboard within the thin chassis enhances your on-device control for both gaming and everyday work. Not only does it come with Dolby Atmos® for you to lay back to surrounding acoustics, but the laptop can also be 180-degree laid-flat. It’s fast. It’s light. It’s designed for you to game it all.

Closer Look Video Review

For this review we’ve produced a video review which showcases the design and features. Watch the GIGABYTE A16 Laptop Review. Or click below:

Benchmarks: Temperatures

For our first benchmark test we observe the max. CPU/GPU temperatures of the system while allowing Unigine Heaven 4.0 to run on a 30 minute loop. To report back on the temperatures we use CoreTemp and GPU-Z which provide the peak figures.

Benchmarks: Boot Time & Battery Uptime

In this test we observe how fast the boot into Windows is by using a digital stopwatch. Battery uptime is another important observation, for this we charge the notebook up to 100% and then disconnect the charging unit and leave Heaven 4.0 running on a continuous loop until the notebook loses all power.

Benchmarks: Cinebench R20 & 7-Zip

Cinebench is a real-world cross-platform test suite that evaluates your computer’s hardware capabilities. Improvements to Cinebench Release 20 reflect the overall advancements to CPU and rendering technology in recent years, providing a more accurate measurement of Cinema 4D’s ability to take advantage of multiple CPU cores and modern processor features available to the average user. Best of all: It’s free.

Benchmarks: PCMark 10

PCMark 10 is the latest version in our series of industry standard PC benchmarks. Updated for Windows 10 with new and improved workloads, PCMark 10 is also faster and easier to use.

PCMark 10 features a comprehensive set of tests that cover the wide variety of tasks performed in the modern workplace. With express, extended, and custom run options to suit your needs, PCMark 10 is the complete PC benchmark for the modern office.

Benchmarks: 3DMark TimeSpy & Port Royal

Time Spy is a DirectX 12 benchmark test for gaming PC. With its pure DirectX 12 engine, built from the ground up to support new API features like asynchronous compute, explicit multi-adapter, and multi-threading, Time Spy is the ideal benchmark for testing the DirectX 12 performance of the latest graphics cards.

Benchmarks: Video Editing

To test the laptops ability with Video Editing, two tests are run using Puget Systems Davinci Resolve and Procyon Video Editing Suite which uses Adobe Premiere Pro. This should offer good comparison between two different video editing applications.

Benchmarks: 1080p Gaming

Aero X16 uses RTX 5070 8G for graphics delivery, in this section we test popular gaming titles to see how effective the 3D capabilities are. We report on the average framerate using CapFrameX or in-game benchmark tool. Since we have revamped the games list, we have no other models to compare against.

Conclusion

The GIGABYTE GAMING A16 (GA6H) concludes its showing as a well-balanced gaming laptop that successfully blends performance, portability, and thoughtful design. Its thin bezel display gives the system a modern, immersive aesthetic while keeping the overall footprint compact. The chassis remains reasonably thin and lightweight for a machine of its class, making it an appealing choice for users who want desktop-level power in a package that’s still travel-friendly. For gamers, students, and professionals alike, the A16 strikes a practical middle ground between performance and portability.

Powered by the Intel Core i7-13620H, the A16 delivers excellent single-core performance, which translates to smooth gameplay, quick system responsiveness, and strong performance in lightly threaded tasks. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GPU complements this well, offering solid graphics processing for both modern gaming and creative workloads such as rendering or video editing. Together, these components make the A16 capable of handling demanding titles at high settings while maintaining efficient thermals and consistent performance throughout extended sessions.

GIGABYTE’s hardware choices further enhance the overall experience. The inclusion of a fast, GIGABYTE-branded PCIe 4.0 SSD ensures rapid load times and snappy file transfers, while the presence of a spare M.2 slot adds welcome flexibility for future storage upgrades. The laptop’s reasonable selection of USB ports covers the essentials for most users, and its improved cooling solution delivers noticeably better thermal performance compared to previous generations—keeping both the CPU and GPU temperatures under control during heavy use. These refinements demonstrate GIGABYTE’s attention to user feedback and long-term reliability.

That said, the A16 does come with a few compromises. The 165Hz display, while smooth and vibrant, may feel modest compared to some competitors that push higher refresh rates, particularly for fast-paced esports titles. Additionally, the single-channel memory configuration slightly hampers performance potential, and the lack of USB4 connectivity limits the laptop’s future expansion options. Nonetheless, these shortcomings are relatively minor within the broader context of what the A16 delivers. Overall, the GIGABYTE GAMING A16 stands out as a capable, efficient, and well-designed laptop that offers strong performance and thermal management at a competitive price point—making it a solid choice for gamers and creators alike.

Overall, The GIGABYTE GAMING A16 (GA6H) delivers strong all-round performance with its Intel Core i7-13620H, RTX 5070 GPU, fast PCIe 4.0 SSD, and improved thermals in a sleek, lightweight design. While its 165Hz display, single-channel memory, and lack of USB4 are minor drawbacks, it remains a capable and well-balanced choice for gamers and creators alike.
