Today we have something rather special up for review – the DimasTech Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5.
DimasTech are an Italian company that produce high performance extreme cooling products orientated around phase change hardware. As with the product in this review they also produce a range of high performance bench testing tables for hardware test purposes.

The Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 is a reworking of the highly reviewed V2. It’s been designed for both enthusiast and extreme test usage so it’s going to be interesting to see how it settles into each role.
Let’s take a look at the bench tables specifications…

Packaging and contents
The case arrived in a very sturdy box. It’s a simple affair with only the DimasTech logo emblazoned on two opposing sides of the packaging.

Once open the box, we see the case’s parts, build manual and a square of polystyrene protecting the components within.

Upon removal you can see the base portion of the case. I was surprised that it essentially filled the packaging… it’s definitely not a small case!

Within the case itself we find a polystyrene block containing all the additional parts supplied with the bench table. Carefully cut channels give each component a safe home during transit – they also make it easier to identify and tick off all the components on the parts list found in the installation manual.

Indeed, when DimasTech include additional parts they really go to town as you can see. You get a staggering selection of solid fan mounts for cooling specific parts of whatever system you choose to install. There’s a bending fan mount, a PSU mount (with padding foam), 3.5″ and 5.25″ mount frames for the system drives and a PCI backplate frame. For securing all this in place DimasTech have supplied a gaggle of screws, bolts and thumbscrews. Lastly I must also mention the front panel components – DimasTech have provided very high quality ‘Bulgin’ style Power and Reset switches and a lone USB connector.

The case
DimasTech have produced a very handsome case in the Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5. It can be purchased in a variety of colours allowing the buyer to tailor the case perfectly. A very nice touch as far as I’m concerned!
Out of the box you can see how the lower portion of the case can be easily removed for simple component installation.

This is done by removing six thumbscrews – once unsecured the tray simply slides out.

Here is the tray – although somewhat difficult to make out you might be able to see the variety of mount points available to the user. This means that your choice of PSU, HDD and optical drive location is incredibly flexible.

Moving back to the case top we can see that the top and sides are one piece of sheet metal. All of the cable routing holes are CNC laser cut-outs. The standard of workmanship is simply excellent and DimasTech should be proud of what they have created.

If you look closely at the base of this window you’ll see that the case name has been carefully laser cut from the sheet metal.

The case continued
In a similar fashion, DimasTech have laser cut the design and build location of the case into the rear lip of the Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 – most people will never see this portion of the case during normal use so it’s more of a badge of honour and a sign of the pride DimasTech has in its products.

Moving to the left side of the case we see what can only be described as the most perfect triple rad cut-out ever! DimasTech have carefully designed the Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 to accommodate a selection of the most popular radiators on the market. It will happily accept radiators models up to 120.3 from HwLab, Thermochill, TFC, etc.

The top of the case is the business end – with a plethora of carefully CNC’d holes to allow cable routing and motherboard install as well as PCI frame and fan frame mounting. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 manages with a full system install.

The small front panel is a basic layout consisting of a power and reset switch hole and a single USB mount position. Simple – yes. But probably about as much as you’d need.

Last but not least is the base of the case. Four soft rubber feet are supplied and can be easily screwed into place by hand. They are quite soft so as well as stopping any unfortunate scratches may also offer some vibration damping to help keep the installed system quiet.

Build and installation
I began with the PCI backplate. This was secured using a screw and bolt method – DimasTech have designed it to allow the backplate to slide a few centimetres in each direction. This not only allows the possible use of Extended ATX boards and the additional PCI slots that they inherently possess but it also allows the fine adjustment needed to align the PCI slots in the first case. This is a very useful feature since I have come across a few cases in my time whose PCI slots were a millimetre or two out – when this is the case it can put undue stress on the cards being installed.

Next I tried the various fan mounts – the same screw and bolt approach is needed here for all but the flexible fan mount. The flex mount is actually pre-threaded so it simply screws into whichever location you desire.

The motherboard standoffs provided by DimasTech are large to say the least. At 2.5cm tall they provide a chunk of clearance from the Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5’s top. The primary function of these is to allow sufficient mounting clearance for extreme cooling solutions. Phase cooling needs particularly large mounts due to the thickness of insulation and sealant layers to counteract the onset of condensation during sub zero operation.

The power and reset buttons are easy to install. The CNC’d mount holes are the perfect fit and once in place some threaded collars secure the buttons to the case. The USB connector simply screws into place and is once again a perfect fit.

Here you can see the motherboard in position ready for all other components to be installed – clearance for components is good and everything fits securely.

Installation continued
Moving to the lower reaches of the case we are able to mount the PSU bracket. It’s not the toughest construction and is a touch flimsy in my opinion. If a user were regularly installing and uninstalling PSUs then care should be taken not to fatigue the mount – however, for the majority of users I’m sure it will be perfectly fine.

Here you can see the Hiper PSU in place – the supplied foam cushion isn’t a perfect fit but it can be cut by the user to perfectly match their PSU’s footprint. The mount system is again a screw and thumb bolt arrangement and works well.

The drive bay install is equally straight forward and as mentioned earlier the choice of install location is varied.

Here you can see the DVD and HDDs installed. DimasTech have provided thumb screws with matching threads so installation once again is made very straightforward.

With everything installed you can see everything has its place. You can see the space on offer as it makes the full ATX ECS motherboard look like an MATX model.

The size of the case makes ATX look MATX.
The open design meant temperatures were always impressive even without additional fans. In the event of extreme overclocking I would of course add fans but for this set up ease of access was gained due to not needing additional cooling.

Conclusion
The Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 is an incredibly impressive case and priced at around 120 Euros it offers a considerable amount of quality and a great many features not to mention flexibility.
Of course the user base of a product like this may be somewhat limited compared to \’normal\’ enclosed designs but for a high performance open/test bench style case I\’d find it difficult to imagine how any great improvements to the design could be added.

All in all I can thoroughly recommend the DimasTech Bench/Test Table Easy V2.5 to any user looking for an easy access high performance open enclosure. It\’ll happily cope with high performance systems and it ability to utilise air, water or even more exotic cooling set-ups only adds to its overall impressiveness!
