The DAGGER PM 1200W is certified to both 80 PLUS Platinum and Cybenetics Platinum standards, and is built using high-quality Japanese capacitors alongside a 120mm fluid dynamic bearing fan. One of its standout features is Dual Gas Tube surge protection, with two high-grade gas discharge tubes mounted on the rear of the PCB to provide an additional layer of protection against high-voltage surges, including those caused by lightning strikes. The DAGGER PM Series is also fully compliant with the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, making it ready for next-generation graphics cards and modern high-performance systems.

The FSP DAGGER is an SFX-L power supply unit measuring 125mm in length, in between SFX (100mm length) and SFX-L (130mm length). In a sense, the PSU is 5mm shorter to the SFX-L standard. A very unique feature of the PSU is the surge protection provided by the Dual Gas Tube technology – a protective feature FSP said to be exclusive to premium retail PSU models and industrial PSUs. This added protection not only improves reliability but also adds value to this unit with its already respectable MSRP compared to the likes of the ROG LOKI 1200W.
Packaging, Accessories, and Cables
The DAGGER PM 1200W’s packaging follows the same visual style used by the other FSP PSUs we have previously tested, including the FSP VITA GM Series and FSP MEGA GM Series.The packaging design is straightforward, with the 80 PLUS and Cybenetics Platinum certification badges prominently displayed on the front alongside the PSU’s key features. More detailed specifications are provided on the rear, while one side lists the included cables and their respective lengths, along with a QR code for accessing the user manual.
The FSP DAGGER PM 1200W continues the brand’s use of more environmentally conscious packaging. Rather than using conventional foam inserts, FSP uses folded recycled cardboard to protect the PSU during transit, similar to the approach used by Noctua for its CPU coolers. This reduces the use of plastic-based packaging materials without compromising protection.
The DAGGER PM 1200W, its cables and accessories are individually packed in plastic bags to protect them from moisture and other environmental elements during transport. FSP also includes a desiccant packet with the PSU for additional moisture protection. The bundle includes a set of embossed modular cables, a power cord, a PSU tester jumper, Velcro straps, eight mounting screws and an ATX-to-SFX adapter bracket for compatibility with standard PSU bays.
Cables and Accessories
The FSP DAGGER PM 1200W features a single 12V-2×6 connector for powering the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards, alongside three 6+2-pin PCIe connectors for older-generation GPUs. As an SFX-L PSU designed for small-form-factor systems, it also includes shorter cables than those typically supplied with standard ATX power supplies, helping to reduce cable clutter in compact builds.
The DAGGER PM 1200W comes with an ATX-to-SFX adapter for cases with ATX PSU bays.
The DAGGER PM Series comes with premium black embossed modular cables, giving the PSU a clean and understated appearance. Like the FSP VITA GM 1000W, the 12V-2×6 connector does not feature the commonly seen “600W” marking found on many competing PSUs. This makes for a cleaner-looking installation, particularly as the GPU power connector is often visible through a tempered glass side panel. Despite the lack of a marking, the included 12V-2×6 cable is rated to deliver up to 600W, providing ample headroom for high-end graphics cards.

Compared to the FSP MEGA GM 1000, the DAGGER PM 1200W’s cables are approximately 50–60% shorter, making them better suited to compact SFF builds while helping to minimise excess cable clutter. None of the included PCIe cables use pig-tail connectors, with each GPU power connector provided on a dedicated cable. This is a preferable approach for high-power graphics cards, providing a cleaner installation and ensuring the load is distributed across separate cable runs.
Closer Look (External)
The DAGGER PM 1200W takes a simple and understated approach to its exterior design. The top features a specification label with essential PSU information, while the side carries a subtle DAGGER PM Series model label. The modular connectors are clearly labelled to help builders identify the correct connections during installation, which is particularly useful when working within the tighter confines of an SFX-L system.
The DAGGER PM 1200W uses a simple wire-style fan grille that protrudes slightly from the PSU housing. This design also allows the 120mm fan to sit closer to the grille, with its blades extending beyond the main chassis. Positioning the fan closer to the intake opening can help reduce airflow restriction and turbulence compared with a recessed fan arrangement, potentially improving airflow through the compact PSU chassis.
The modular connectors are clearly labelled and straightforward to identify. Their locking tabs face outwards, making the cables easier to install and remove, particularly in the confined space of an SFX-L build. While this may seem like a small design detail, it is a practical touch that makes installation, cable management and troubleshooting considerably easier.
The rear of the PSU keeps things simple, featuring a conventional ventilation grille, AC power socket and a compact power switch. The DAGGER PM 1200W also employs semi-passive cooling, with the fan remaining inactive below 30% load. However, there is no physical switch to enable or disable the semi-passive mode, a feature commonly found on larger premium PSUs. While having manual control would be welcome, its omission is understandable given the considerably tighter internal space of an SFX-L design, where adding another control and the associated circuitry would be difficult to justify.
Building with SFX-L PSUs
The included ATX-to-SFX adapter bracket positions the PSU centrally within the mounting area, providing broad compatibility with mini-ITX and small-form-factor chassis. For this demonstration, we installed the DAGGER PM 1200W in the compact Mechanic Master C28 mATX chassis, which has an 18-litre volume.
The C28 features a front-mounted PSU bay and uses a 90-degree power extension, which can be problematic with certain PSU mounting arrangements. In our experience, the centrally positioned adapter bracket provides useful clearance around the power socket, allowing the extension cable to connect without interfering with the PSU or surrounding components.
With a 1200W rating in the compact SFX-L form factor, the DAGGER PM 1200W gives SFFPC builders the headroom to consider high-end graphics cards such as the RTX 5080 and even the RTX 5090, without having to step up to a larger ATX power supply. This makes 1200W SFX-L PSUs particularly appealing for uncompromising high-performance SFF builds.

Closer Look (Internal)
The FSP DAGGER PM 1200W is an exceptionally compact 1200W power supply, achieving an impressive 1,219W/L power density. Despite the SFX-L form factor, FSP was able to fit a slim 120mm fan in the PSU.
The DAGGER PM 1200W is equipped with a slim 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fan, providing cooling capacity while maintaining the compact SFX-L form factor. The PSU also features semi-passive cooling, with FSP stating that the fan remains inactive below 30% load, allowing the PSU to operate silently during lighter workloads.
We will put the DAGGER PM 1200W’s cooling performance and acoustic characteristics to the test in the following pages.
The DAGGER PM 1200W uses two Nippon Chemi-Con 450V 510µF aluminium electrolytic capacitors, which appear to be from the KHE series. Other capacitors in the PSU appear to be sourced from Rubycon – another renowned Japanese capacitor brand. Despite the cramped SFX-L enclosure, FSP has positioned the heatsinks close to the ventilation openings, making efficient use of the available airflow to cool the heat-generating components. The PSU also uses multiple daughterboards to maximise the limited internal space, a common approach in compact SFX/SFX-L designs that allows more circuitry to be packed into the enclosure.
It is impressive to see FSP deliver 1200W of continuous power in such a compact SFX-L enclosure, particularly given the thermal challenges of such a high-power density. Let’s move on to the testing and results on the next page.
Testing Methodologies & Results
We will be using an ElmorLabs PMD2 that monitors and measures voltage, current, and power flowing through the CPU, GPU and motherboard power cables.Our testing methodology uses OCBase’s OCCT Enterprise Edition software for power loading and monitoring. Tweaking the OCCT Stability Test, we can set different power loads for the PSU easier rather than playing around with various software to achieve set power loads. All testing is conducted using the 230V residential power standard.
Methodology
The ElmorLabs PMD2 features several monitoring points which includes two 8-pin EPS connectors (EPS1 and EPS2), three +12V 8-pin PCIE (PCIE1, PCIE2, and PCI3), one 12V-2×6 connector (HPWR) and readings on the 24-pin which include +12V, +5, and +3.3. For the +12V output on the peripheral/molex cable, we will be using a multimeter.

Results
The DAGGER PM 1200W shows excellent voltage regulation on the outputs actually powering the GPUs. PCIe3, which powers the RTX 4060 Ti, varied under 0.50%, while the 12V-2×6 output powering the RTX 3070 delivered even tighter voltage regulation under 0.30% which is expected given that the 12V-2×6 connector is designed to support up to 600W. The EPS outputs also display tight voltage regulation under 0.50%, indicating excellent regulation on the rails supplying the CPU and GPUs.
By comparison, PCIe1 and PCIe2 are monitored but do not power a GPU, so their slightly wider variation of 0.66% and 1.18%, respectively, is less significant. With little or no load on these outputs, small voltage changes can result in larger percentage variations.
The SATA/Molex +12V output reached 1.08%, which is still excellent and well within the ±5% ATX tolerance. The secondary rails also performed well, with +5V varying by just 0.62% and +3.3V by 2.42%. While the latter is comparatively looser, it remains comfortably within specification and is unlikely to be a concern given the relatively low power demand placed on the +3.3V rail in modern PCs.
Our test configuration pulled an average of 787W during the five-minute maximum-load test. The RTX 3070 was powered through the 12V-2×6 connector using the Elmor Labs PMD2 and a 12V-2×6-to-PCIe adapter, drawing a maximum of around 210W. The power-hungry Intel Core i7-13700K accounted for a significant portion of the remaining system load.
Despite the substantial load, the DAGGER PM 1200W maintained excellent voltage stability across all rails, with the +12V outputs remaining particularly tight. The +5V and +3.3V rails also remained comfortably within specification. These results demonstrate that the DAGGER PM 1200W can handle a demanding high-performance system with ease, which is particularly impressive considering that this level of power delivery is being achieved from such a compact SFX-L 1200W platform.
OCCT Stability Tests
The graphs below show the results from the 60% load test, targeting around 720W but drawing approximately 700W in our configuration, and the maximum-load test, where the system was pushed to draw as much power as possible. The latter reached a peak of 827W with our current test configuration.
The voltages on the EPS cables powering the Intel Core i7-13700K remained very stable throughout the stress tests. As the system load increased, the +12V output dipped only slightly, resulting in a relatively flat voltage curve even under heavier power draw. This is desirable as it indicates the PSU is maintaining a consistent supply voltage as the CPU demands more power, minimising voltage fluctuations that could affect system stability.
Across the 700–800W load range, the EPS outputs showed just 0.30% maximum variation from the nominal +12V level, which is exceptionally tight voltage regulation. Considering the DAGGER PM 1200W is a compact SFX-L PSU, maintaining this level of stability while delivering substantial power to a power-hungry CPU is an impressive result.
The same behaviour can be observed on the 12V-2×6 and PCIe power outputs, which supply the GPUs. Our RTX 3070 is powered through the 12V-2×6 output, while the RTX 4060 Ti uses the PCIe3 output. Both showed relatively flat voltage curves as load increased, indicating that the DAGGER PM 1200W maintains stable voltage delivery even as the GPUs demand more power.
By comparison, the PCIe1 and PCIe2 outputs show slightly more variation. These connectors are not powering any components in our test system; they are connected only to the monitoring hardware, allowing us to measure their output voltage. With virtually no load applied, these outputs naturally show greater voltage variation, making the flatter curves on the loaded 12V-2×6 and PCIe3 outputs a more meaningful indication of the PSU’s voltage regulation under real-world load.
The +5V and +3.3V rails show slightly looser regulation than the +12V outputs but remain well within ATX specifications. This is less critical as modern CPUs and GPUs draw most of their power from the +12V rail, while the +5V and +3.3V rails typically handle much lighter loads.
Overall, the DAGGER PM 1200W delivered excellent voltage regulation, particularly on the +12V outputs powering the CPU and GPUs, which remained remarkably stable even at 700–800W loads. The +5V and +3.3V rails also remained well within specification. For a 1200W SFX-L PSU, these results are particularly impressive.
Acoustics
The FSP DAGGER PM 1200W features semi-fanless operation, with the product page stating that the “fan remains inactive under 30% load for absolute silence”. While the semi-passive operation is confirmed, our testing found that the fan is not controlled strictly by load. FSP has confirmed that fan activation is instead primarily temperature-based, with the fan activating at approximately 65–70°C. This means the PSU can remain completely passive at considerably higher loads when operating temperatures are sufficiently low.
This behaviour is particularly impressive during everyday workloads. Even with the system drawing around 600W, the fan remained inactive briefly while the PSU waited for its temperature threshold to be reached. During typical browsing, YouTube and office workloads drawing below 150W, the PSU can operate passively for extended periods, particularly in cooler ambient conditions. Once the temperature reaches the activation point, the fan runs briefly to reduce the temperature before switching off again, allowing the PSU to return to passive operation.
During our maximum-load test, however, the fan did activate and our sound meter measured approximately 56 dB(A) near the PSU. This was around 2 dB(A) lower than the noise measured near the CPU cooler and graphics cards, demonstrating that the PSU fan was not the dominant noise source in our test system. The 120mm FDB fan is therefore reasonably quiet when active, while the temperature-based semi-passive operation allows the DAGGER PM 1200W to remain completely silent during lighter workloads and even some heavier loads. We also observed no coil whine from our unit.
Conclusion
The FSP DAGGER PM 1200W is currently one of the few Platinum-rated 1200W SFX-L power supplies available, offering the capacity needed for high-end graphics cards such as the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 while retaining a compact footprint suited to SFF builds. Throughout our testing, it demonstrated excellent voltage regulation, impressive power delivery and effective thermal management for its size. In the following sections, we’ll look at its design, performance, features and overall value to determine whether the DAGGER PM 1200W is a worthy choice for high-performance SFF systems.
Design and Aesthetics
The DAGGER PM 1200W takes a simple and functional approach to its design. There is no RGB lighting, display or unnecessary embellishment – just a fully modular SFX-L PSU paired with premium embossed flat black cables. We particularly like the understated design, with small but thoughtful touches such as omitting the “600W” marking from the 12V-2×6 connector, keeping the cable cleaner when visible through a tempered glass side panel.
Performance
The DAGGER PM 1200W delivered excellent performance throughout our testing, with particularly impressive voltage regulation on the +12V outputs powering the CPU and GPUs. Voltage remained remarkably stable with tight voltage regulation. Its temperature-based semi-passive cooling further impressed us, allowing the PSU to operate passively at surprisingly high loads while remaining reasonably quiet when the fan eventually activated. For a 1200W SFX-L PSU, the combination of power delivery, voltage stability and thermal performance is impressive.
Value
At a US$259 MSRP, the DAGGER PM 1200W carries the expected premium associated with its compact SFX-L form factor, but remains competitively priced given the limited number of 1200W SFX-L alternatives. For comparison, the ROG LOKI 1200W SFX-L was priced at around US$322.99 at the time of writing. While there is a noticeable price gap compared with 1000W SFX-L Platinum offerings, 1200W models remain relatively rare. FSP also keeps the price focused on what matters, without adding premium extras such as RGB lighting or displays. For builders who specifically need 1200W in a compact SFF chassis, the DAGGER PM 1200W offers excellent value for its performance and capability.
For SFF builders who need 1200W of power in a compact SFX-L form factor, the DAGGER PM 1200W is an easy recommendation.
