Intel‘s LGA 3647 socket (AKA Socket P) has, until recently, been the sole province of workstation systems on the enterprise-oriented Xeon platform; however last year CPUs and motherboards supporting the huge socket started to filter down into very high-end consumer markets. Motherboards such as the ASUS ROG Dominus Extreme have been launched to offer otherworldly performance with up to 28-core processors, the peak of which is Intel’s Xeon W-3175X, occupying a space at the very pinnacle of the current HEDT segment.
The cooling demands of these new platforms are however extreme in their own right, particularly when overclocked, which makes bespoke water-cooling all the more advantageous. With that in mind Phanteks are today launching two watercooling solutions for LGA 3647 – generic waterblocks for all compatible motherboards with both Narrow and Square Socket P types, and a kit specifically for ASUS ROG’s Dominus Extreme.
The Glacier C3647i are CPU waterblocks shaped for either Narrow or Square LGA 3647 CPU sockets types. CNC-cut from pure copper blocks and with a high-quality nickel finish, it fulfils the requirements of platform owners who require premium cooling performance and aesthetic flair.
In common with all Glacier waterblocks both the C3647i SOCKET P Narrow and C3647i SOCKET P Square incorporate digital-RGB lighting that’s compatible with both MSI MYSTIC LIGHT SYNC (as the out-the-box rainbow effect) and ASUS AURA SYNC (through which it’s fully addressable). And of course it’s compatible with Phantek’s own digital-RGB controller solutions while also daisy-chaining across other digital-RGB devices.
Viton O-rings used in the Glacier C3647i are common solutions in the automotive and aerospace industries, featuring greater durability and resistance to the sorts of extreme heat cycling seen in high-end watercooling configurations. Phanteks are confident that they will retain sealing performance for long periods despite the challenging conditions imposed by such a high-end platform.
The ASUS ROG Dominus Extreme Kit from Phanteks builds on the C3647i SOCKET P Narrow solution by also including a VRM waterblock that cools the motherboard’s mighty power delivery system. This additional component also supports ASUS AURA SYNC and digital-RGB lighting, bringing together tailor-made extreme cooling and user-customisable synchronised lighting.
