Cologne, August 19, 2010 – Razer, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming equipment has announced the cooperation with the Intel Extreme Masters, the global league of video game champions organized by the Electronic Sports League (ESL). The partnership has started at the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Cologne which is the second stop of the fifth season of the international league. The event is being held at gamescom 2010 in Cologne, the largest entertainment trade fair in Europe (August 18 – 22). The visitors of the tournament area at the venue will be able to test the latest professional gaming equipment by Razer available in the Intel Free Gaming Area where the public will be able to try out some of the new game titles.
The Cologne Global Challenge is the first European event of Intel Extreme Masters V. Professional gamers from Europe, Asia and America battle throughout the season for the title of the World Champions and their share of 400,000 US Dollars in total prize purse – the highest prize money for a global league. The event in Cologne will host the competition in two disciplines: Quake Live and StarCraft 2 – played for the first time in a live international tournament. Apart from the prize money, the winners will be awarded the slots at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship held in Germany in March 2011.
