Power Supply Installation Guide
Seasonic recommends testing the power supply before installation, as outlined in the included quick-start guide. While the guide illustrates the traditional paperclip method, this is no longer necessary — Seasonic provides a dedicated PSU tester in the box. This small device allows users to safely and conveniently power on the unit for preliminary testing, offering a more reliable and user-friendly alternative to the manual paperclip approach.
Seasonic ATX 24-pin 90° Adapter and PSU Tester Function
The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition includes a Seasonic ATX 24-pin 90° Adapter and PSU Tester Function — an exclusive accessory not available separately. This dual-purpose device enables quick functionality testing straight out of the box and doubles as a right-angle connector, helping achieve tidier cable routing once the PSU is installed.
To perform a test, simply connect the 24-pin cable to the PSU, then attach the tester to the other end of the cable. Plug in the C19 power cord and switch on the power supply. Press the button located at the centre of the ATX 24-pin 90° Adapter and PSU Tester — a blue light indicates that the unit is functioning correctly, while a red light signals a potential fault.

The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition features fully modular cables finished in Noctua’s signature black and brown colour scheme. Seasonic includes two 12V-2×6 cables, each measuring 700mm in length, along with three EPS cables for CPU power delivery. For legacy graphics cards, the PSU also provides six 8-pin (6+2) PCIe cables. Notably, these PCIe cables are not daisy-chained — or “pigtail” style — meaning users will need to connect two separate cables when powering GPUs that require dual 8-pin connectors, which is the recommended configuration for optimal power stability.
As expected from a high-end power supply, the included cables feature individually sleeved premium wiring, offering a more durable and visually refined finish compared to standard flat black cables.

C19 Power Cord (Right)
The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition uses a C19 power cord, which is noticeably thicker than the standard C13 cables typically bundled with lower wattage PSUs. The C19 connector is designed to handle higher current loads — up to 16 amps — making it more suitable for high-capacity units such as this 1600W model. In contrast, C13 power cords are generally rated for up to 10 amps and are used for mid-range power supplies. The use of a C19 cable ensures safer and more stable power delivery under heavy load conditions.
Closer Look (External)
The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition power supply unit is massive, measuring 210mm in length which is expected for a PSU of this calibre.
The fan grille of the PSU is different from the standard PRIME TX-1600 PSU. The PSU’s housing also gets a touch of brown with a “Noctua” branding present on the shroud.
On the side of the PSU, a visible “PRIME Noctua Edition” branding is added. This side would be visible if your chassis doesn’t have a PSU shroud or has an opening.
The top panel has a sticker that contain some essential information about the PSU such as the output specifications, certifications and serial number.
The interior end of the PSU is populated with headers given the amount of cables this PSU comes with. Each section is labelled properly indicating where cables go.
At the rear of the PSU is a larger than usual power switch and Seasonic’s Hybrid Mode button. Hybrid Mode is a state-of-the-art digital fan control that enables users to keep the overall fan noise at the lowest possible level. Paired with the award-winning Noctua NF-A12x25 cooling fan, the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition achieved a Cybenetics Lambda A++ Noise Rating, the highest score for noise level testing, for both the 230V and 115V tests. This means the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition operates below 15 dB(A) regardless of load. On the contrary, the standard Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 power supply unit only achieved a Cybenetics Lambda A Noise Rating.

Designed as the top-end Titanium-rated model, the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition features three Nippon Chemi-Con primary capacitors. The PSU’s we’ve reviewed so far this year tend to have a single primary capacitor only with the exception of the Superflower LEADER III GOLD ATX 3.1 850W PSU that had two. In general, having more primary capacitors improves power stability, reduces ripple, and enhances overall reliability. With this in mind, the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is indeed built to be a top-end unit that aims to deliver power with exceptional stability and reliability.
It comes equipped with 420V 820uF KHE Series 105°C aluminium electrolytic capacitors from Nippon Chemi-Con – a first tier Japanese capacitor brand known for quality, reliability, and longevity.
The remaining capacitors inside the unit are a mix of Nippon Chemi-Con and Rubycon components, ensuring the PSU is equipped with 100% first-tier Japanese capacitors. This guarantees excellent reliability, stability, and longevity — characteristics expected from a flagship Seasonic power supply.
Noctua NF-A12x25 Cooling Fan
Now, the highlight feature of the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is the integration of the award-winning NF-A12x25 PWM fan.
The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is fitted with Noctua’s renowned NF-A12x25 HS-PWM fan, which uses a smaller 120mm frame compared to the 135mm fluid dynamic bearing fan found in the standard PRIME TX-1600. Despite its reduced size, the Noctua fan delivers superior acoustic performance, allowing the Noctua Edition to achieve Cybenetics’ highest Lambda noise certification of A++, whereas the standard model is rated at A-.
The Noctua NF-A12x25 is a highly optimised next-generation 120mm fan that integrates Noctua’s latest innovations in aerodynamic engineering in order to achieve an unprecedented level of quiet cooling performance. The standard Noctua NF-A12x25 is available in six variants: PWM, LS-PWM, FLX, ULN, 5V PWM, and 5V. It is also available in chromax.black version. For those wondering if it uses a standard Noctua fan, the NF-A12x25 HS-PWM on the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition features a non-standard connector designed for the PSU’s digital fan control module, rather than a conventional 4-pin PWM fan header. Still, using a connector makes it far easier to service or replace compared to soldered wiring which is common in PSUs.
Testing Methodologies & Results
Testing SetupFor the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition power supply, we have upgraded our testing equipment from using a multimeter to the ElmorLabs PMD2 that monitors and measures voltage, current, and power flowing through the CPU, GPU and motherboard power cables.
Our testing methodology is still the same but we will now be using OCBase’s OCCT Enterprise Edition software for power loading and monitoring. Tweaking the OCCT Stability Test, we can set different power loads for the PSU easier rather than playing around with various software to achieve set power loads. All testing is conducted using the 230V residential power standard.

Methodology
We now have more testing points with the ElmorLabs PMD2 – two 8-pin EPS connectors (EPS1 and EPS2), three +12V 8-pin PCIE (PCIE1, PCIE2, and PCI3), and readings on the 24-pin which include +12V, +5, and +3.3. We will be monitoring and recording the voltages and wattage on each of these power cables. The PMD2 cannot monitor the +12V on the SATA/MOLEX power cables. For that, we will still be using a multimeter to also monitor the voltages delivered to the SATA/MOLEX cables.
Power load will be at 10% increments using the OCCT Stability Test running for 5 minutes – as much as our current testing setup allows which is currently 750W~800W with the following testing configuration below:

Results
Voltage readings are averaged from the 5-minute stability testing. The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition utilises Seasonic’s latest design to deliver exceptionally tight voltage regulation, maintaining the +12V rail within 0.5%. In our testing, one PCIe sensor reported a 0.52% deviation; however, when factoring in the typical margin of error inherent to measurement equipment, the results align with Seasonic’s claim of Micro Tolerance Load Regulation at 0.5%. The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition PSU has the best voltage regulation out of all the PSUs we’ve reviewed this year. Its outstanding voltage regulation is a defining trait of a flagship power supply, engineered to deliver exceptionally stable and reliable power to demanding systems. OCCT Stability Tests
Above are the two custom stability tests with the system that aims to pull approximately 40% and 50% load on the PSU, at 600W and 750–760W respectively. Under both workload scenarios, the +12V rail remained within a 0.5% deviation. If you notice the short power load spikes recorded on the PMD2, these occurred while we adjusted the stability test parameters to dial in the exact 10% load increments. These momentary fluctuations also illustrate how the +12V rail responds to rapid changes in power load during the adjustment process.
Acoustics
This PSU attained the Cybenetics Lambda A++ noise level rating which is the highest attainable award. Equipped with the NF-A12x25 HS-PWM, our sound meter picks up around 46~47dBA when the fan is not spinning. The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition features Seasonic’s hybrid cooling mode wherein the fan does not spin at low loads as shown in the photo below.
Hybrid Mode On – Left (Fan Off)/ Hybrid Mode Off (Fan Spinning),
Deactivating the hybrid cooling mode allows the fan to operate across all load scenarios while remaining PWM controlled, meaning its behaviour adjusts according to temperature and load. With hybrid mode disabled and the fan spinning, our sound meter recorded roughly the same noise level at low loads, measuring around 46 to 47 dBA. During the OCCT Stability Test, noise levels increased to 55 dBA, although this was with two graphics cards running at full workload. In summary, the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is unlikely to be a noticeable source of noise within a high performance system.
Conclusion

The PSU’s silent operation is very impressive as expected with the PSU’s premium Noctua cooling fan.

The pricing of the PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition differs notably across regions. In Australia this PSU is available on PC Case Gear for AU$979 while the standard PRIME TX-1600 goes for AU$749. In the United States, it is listed at US$654 on Amazon US, while the standard PRIME TX-1600 retails for US$557.77, placing the Noctua Edition roughly US$100 higher. In contrast, the situation in the United Kingdom presents a far more favourable outlook. Based on current forex rates, the US pricing would equate to approximately £497, yet the Noctua Edition is available for only £429 on Amazon UK (around US$564 converted). This positions it as an excellent value proposition in the UK market. For context, the standard Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 is currently priced at £449.99 on Overclockers UK.
If you are a Noctua enthusiast, this PSU will undoubtedly appeal to you. That said, the signature brown colour scheme is not to everyone’s taste and may not suit the aesthetic preferences of many enthusiasts and PC gamers who favour RGB lighting and more conventional themes.
