Since the release of Intel’s Core i7 series CPU, we have seen many huge coolers appearing in the market. It’s all because the TDP of the Core i7 could reach 130W, even more if you attempt to overclock it with additional voltage. This is something we are all afraid of. There are two main reasons enthusiasts choose to change their existing cooler. First of all, it’s to be able to overclock, and secondly, it’s for quieter operation. There are many monstrous coolers in existence in the market, but is there any cooler that can really handle the hot Core i7 passively without any fans on the heatsink? We can tell you right now that with the HR-02, it’s possible! But if you wish to overclock and add more voltage, you can still choose to add extra fans. With a fan, the HR-02 is as good as the Venomous X, and depending on your case airflow, it is possible for the HR-02 to exceed the Venomous X.
The HR-02 has patented fins with punched holes that increase the dissipating surface area by 25-30%, making it more thermally efficient under passive operation or with low RPM fans (600-800 RPM). Another noticeable change you will see on the HR-02 is that we have designed the fins to be very close to the case system fans, so even without additional fans on the heatsink, it can easily cool the CPU simply using the case air flow. If you choose to add one fan on the heatsink, then the case system fan will help create a push-pull effect, similarly to other heatsinks using two fans.
The HR-02 provides compatibility for both 12cm or 14cm fans, so you may choose the best option depending on your system fan configuration. The new pressure-vault system kit is also included and the cooler can support Intel Socket 1366/1156/775.
You might be worried about the space needed for the HR-02, but rest assured that we have fine tuned it and made the appropriate adjustments so that the cooler is compatible with most motherboards. Besides some unique AM3 motherboards, the HR-02 is compatible with most boards on the market (85%). If unsure, check the compatibility list on our website.
Want to run your system passively or with an ultra quiet fan? Then the HR-02 is the best choice for you!
