The Call of Duty franchise is crazy popular despite it being a format that hasn’t really changed much over the years. However, it appears that the PC system requirements have been artificially inflated for some reason. Call of Duty: Ghosts on PC insists that you have 6GB of RAM and won’t even start if you have less but appears to only use just under 2GB.

A user on neogaf has started a thread about this.

The game has some form of lock or whatever that it displays a prompt about how the system needs 6 GB of RAM and if you don’t have that you are below specifications.

RAM usage so far (Task manager, unsure about VRAM.) is usually around 1.1 – 1.8 GB.
(Maybe it continues to grow the more you play, without unloading as maps change and such? Which isn’t ideal.)

This RAM usage is with everything on MAX! This can’t be right! Why would the developers or publisher artificially inflate the amount of RAM required to run the game by such a margin? It could possibly be because Battlefield 4’s recommended RAM requirement is 8GB and they are trying to make Ghosts appear to compete with that. This is all speculation of course but it is just plain strange that this artificial limit is in place. Also, reports are out that the game is FoV locked to 65 which is also not great for PC gamers.

We’ll keep you updated with more news about this but if you haven’t bought this game yet and were considering it then maybe hold off until these issues are sorted.
