MSI has announced that the 2026 Katana 15 HX C14 gaming laptop is now available. The redesigned 15.6-inch model combines up to an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU in a 2.1kg chassis, making it 12.5% lighter and 10.2% thinner than the previous generation.
The MSI Katana 15 HX (2026) is aimed at gamers and students looking for high-performance hardware at a more accessible price. It also features an optional QHD 165Hz display, expandable memory and storage, and MSI’s Cooler Boost thermal system.
High-Performance Hardware
The Katana 15 HX C14 can be configured with up to an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The GPU supports DLSS 4.5, AI features and real-time ray tracing for modern gaming and creative workloads. Memory options vary by configuration, with support for up to 96GB across two SO-DIMM slots. Storage is provided by two PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 SSD slots.
QHD 165Hz Display
The laptop is available with a 15.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS-level display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. A Full HD 144Hz option with 100% sRGB coverage is also available depending on configuration and market.
Slimmer Katana Design
MSI has redesigned the Katana 15 HX with a 22.9mm-thick chassis weighing 2.1kg. The new design is 10.2% thinner and 12.5% lighter than the previous-generation Katana. The exterior retains the series’ katana-inspired styling, including layered slash patterns on the lid, a stamped-metal Blade Emblem and subtle Hamon-inspired details.
Cooler Boost Cooling
MSI’s Cooler Boost thermal system uses two fans, three heat pipes and four exhaust outlets to keep the CPU and GPU cool during demanding workloads. The system supports a combined CPU and GPU power budget of up to 170W.
